Mind the Gap is an artist-led not-for-profit initiative started by Canterbury artist Sandra Pearson in 2008.
It offers accessible diverse quality arts activities open to anyone in Kent wishing to exlore, experience and celebrate the benefits of creativity for mental health.
In 2008 mental health support groups, health professionals, artists, musicians and writers took part in workshops across East Kent.
The year finished in style with an exhibition of 100 art works, a poetry postcard competition, and a live event in Whitefriars Shopping Centre, Canterbury which featured street theatre,drumming, dance, singing and interactive art.
In 2009 Mind the Gap reached across the county with the theme A Place at the Table. A huge number of groups and individuals took part, creating tablecloths which were in a magnificent exhibition at the Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable.
2010 was the year of Box of Dreams which attracted another record number of participants from across Kent. A colourful and inspiring exhibition was held to great acclaim at the Strange Cargo Gallery in Folkestone.
